Three places that share one name
Most people outside Pasco do not know this, and it trips up a lot of Google Business Profiles. The City of New Port Richey is small. It covers 4.6 square miles and had 16,728 residents at the 2020 census. The City of Port Richey had 3,052. Most of the homes your trucks visit are in unincorporated Pasco County, even when the mailing address says New Port Richey or Port Richey.
The City of New Port Richey says so on its own building page: not every property with a New Port Richey ZIP code is inside the city limits. Trinity is a good example. It is an unincorporated community with its own name, and it mails as New Port Richey, ZIP 34655.

Bayonet Point and Jasmine Estates each have more people than the City of New Port Richey, and neither one is a city. For search, that matters in two ways. Your profile address tells Google where you really are, and a Trinity shop with a New Port Richey mailing address sits several miles from downtown. Your pages should also name the places you actually serve, in the words people type: the town name, not the ZIP code.
The roads that shape the map pack
Google says it ranks the map pack on three things: relevance, distance and prominence. Distance is the one you cannot fake, and in west Pasco it runs along a handful of roads.
- US 19 runs north and south through Holiday, New Port Richey, Port Richey, Bayonet Point and Hudson.
- Little Road (County Road 1) runs about 16 miles from Trinity north past Jasmine Estates and Bayonet Point, to US 19 just south of Aripeka.
- Ridge Road starts at US 19 in the City of Port Richey and heads east. Its extension to the Suncoast Parkway opened in January 2023.
- State Road 54 starts at US 19 in Elfers and runs east to Land O’ Lakes, Wesley Chapel and Zephyrhills.
- State Road 52 starts at US 19 in Bayonet Point and runs east past Shady Hills toward Dade City.
- The Suncoast Parkway, a toll road, runs north through Pasco and Hernando into Citrus County.

Permits, utilities and the pages that answer them
Good local pages answer the questions a homeowner here would ask. In west Pasco, the answer often depends on the address.
- Building permits. Unincorporated Pasco goes through Pasco County Building Construction Services and its PascoGateway portal. The City of New Port Richey and the City of Port Richey each handle permits inside their own limits.
- Electric. Duke Energy serves most of southwest Pasco, and the Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative serves most of the northern and central county, according to the Pasco Economic Development Council. An AC rebate page that names the wrong utility is worse than no page at all.

Storm season on the Pasco coast
Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. On this low stretch of coast, storm surge does a lot of the damage. Hurricane Idalia’s surge flooded homes in Hudson in August 2023. A year later, Hurricane Helene’s surge pushed people in low-lying neighborhoods into their attics, and Pasco first responders made close to 200 high-water rescues, many of them in Gulf Harbors.

The City of New Port Richey has a median age of 53.6, against 42.6 for Florida as a whole, based on the Census Bureau’s 2024 five-year estimates.
